Ruby and Natural Diamond Three Stone in Platinum

This is a really unique ring. There is an old saying in the trade, buy stones in as pink sapphires, sell them as rubies, and we bought this as a ruby, but I think it’s more a Purple Sapphire. Rubies and Sapphires are the same thing - Corundum - it’s just the trace elements that give the colour that changes what we call the stones. Aquamarines, Morganites and Emeralds for example are all Beryls.
A rose by any name would smell as sweet. So I’m going to let you decide, but for me, this stone is not red enough to be called a ruby. It’s not really purple or pink either, what I can say is that it’s an absolutely beautiful Corundum stone, in a magical place somewhere between pink / purple / and red.
