This ring is extraordinary. A modern brilliant cut Diamond in platinum would be a marvel, but it might not be instantly recognisable as a diamond. The answer with this ring is a resounding yes, there is no point in history in which this massive green Emerald wouldn't be extremely desirable, and understood as exceptionally precious. Yellow Gold and Emeralds paired together do make for proper old fashioned jewels.
And this ring is stunning. The emerald is utterly lovely, it is so clean, and such a lovely colour. The baguette Diamonds in the halo give it a nod to Art Deco.
